Here is something I got from one of my subscribers, Cheryl, that I thought I’d answer here because it applies to many people.

She said, “Yes, you make it all sound so simple.”

“I need someone else to help me work with programs on the Internet as I am finding it too strenuous to cope with three programs, and everything else that I have to fit in. So, I might advertise for an experienced internet marketer, what do you think?”

Good question, Cheryl. Before I answer your question though, I have to tell you something…

One of my goals this year is to get better at teaching and coaching those who want real results. One thing I have to work on is not sugar-coating the truth, even when it hurts, because I would be doing you an injustice.

With that said, here are the two big challenges you have:

First, there’s a misunderstanding out there that everyone who wants to succeed must diversify. It’s only prudent, right?

While I agree with the idea behind multiple streams of income, there’s one crucial thing that most people don’t quite understand, and it has a lot to do with how the brain functions and how people act.

Without getting into any deep psychology here, your brain can only effectively focus on ONE THING at a time. Until you master your time, and become a disciplined manager over all your affairs, both personal and professional, most of us must spend our time wasting it.

Why do I say that?

Because we feel we’re working hard by doing so many things, but have little to show for it.

If you can learn what “Curly” (played by the late Jack Palance) said to do in the movie City Slickers also starring Billy Crystal, then you’ve got a shot at success.

Here it is:

Curly: Do you know what the secret of life is?

Curly: This. [holds up one finger]

Mitch: Your finger?

Curly: One thing. Just one thing. You stick to that and the rest don’t mean [crap].

Mitch: But, what is the “one thing?”

Curly: [smiles] That’s what *you* have to find out.

So, first choose something out of those three programs Cheryl, that really ignites your day, that even if you weren’t getting paid at all, you’d still want to do it. That’s your best choice.

Once you nail down your first choice, become good to great at it, make it profitable, THEN feel free to look at another opportunity. That’s how you build multiple streams of income powerfully — one thing at a time.

Second, it is simple when you know the right things to do. It’s really hard when you’re just starting out online because you get bombarded with so many different kinds of messages, programs, promises, ideas, directions, your head spins when you see them. (No wonder it took me a few years to figure this all out!)

The trick is to know WHAT EXACTLY you need help on. “Internet marketing” is WAY too general. Everyone is at a different point in their online business — from complete newbie to hitting some paydirt and happy to frustrated because they haven’t hit six figures or the one million dollar mark yet.

HINT: The more specific your question is, the better the answer becomes.

For example, asking “how do I make money online?” is a general and unspecific question that could be answered by simply saying, “Sell something.” That’s not really helpful.

But asking something like, “How can I make $770 in the next three days when I have no product, no website, or no idea?” That question can be much better answered and get you results.
